Sun West Alternative Biofuels - 60 Million Gallon Facility
Sun West Alternative Biofuels LLC is developing and constructing a 60 million gallon biodiesel facility in Windsor, Colorado. It will be a state of the art facility and one of the largest in the country. The company plans to be a BQ9000 certified producer.
Sun West Alternative Biofuels will produce ASTM B100 biodiesel, which can be blended to meet customer need, the biodiesel byproduct, glycerin, and other methyl esters. Sun West is positioning its biodiesel for those who need and want to use low-polluting, ecologically friendly fuel. Unlike mineral-based fuels, biodiesel is renewable energy source, with comparable cost and performance.
Biodiesel fuel is a clean burning alternative fuel that comes from 100% renewable materials. It is considered the fuel of the future. It is broadly known as Biofuel and is defined as a fuel comprised of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats that exceeds the fuel specification requirements of ASTM D6751. Biodiesel is produced in free standing facilities.
Biodiesel contains no sulfur or aromatics, and use of biodiesel in a conventional diesel engine results in substantial reduction of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter.
